According to Ayurved, there are 3 kinds of body type Vata, Pitta and Kapha. It means dominance of particular element will be more in body. For example Kapha body type will have dominance of Kapha over Vata and Pitta. Similarly we can see Pitta body type will have more dominance of Pitta over Kapha & Vata. And Vata body type will have Vata dominance over Pitta & Kapha. Due to wrong food consumption or odd food consumption(which is opposite in nature) it has seen that there are mixed body types also exist nowadays. For example :
Kapha body type with Pitta & Vata mix up
Pitta body type with Vata & Kapha mix up
Vata body type with Pitta & Kapha mix up
These mixed types can have thier types too. Pitta-Vata will have mixed symptoms of Pitta & Vata described in charak sanhita. Dominance of any one of two (Pitta & Vata) will define the actual body types. Like someone should have Pitta-Vata mixed body type with Vata dominance or Pitta-Vata mixed body type with Pitta dominance. If dominance of Vata is more over Pitta then they have more Vata related symptoms over Pitta. And if dominance of Pitta is more over Vata then they have more Pitta related symptoms.
a.Pitta dominant Vata (Means Pitta is more in their body compared to Vata).
b.Vata dominant Pitta (Means Vata is more in their body compared to Pitta).
