Autumn season comes after rainy season in Hindi calendar and it's called Sharad Ritu (15 september to 15 November). After rainy season again heat increases in environment due to absence of clouds and presence of sun light. During autumn season Pitta increases in our body. This increased Pitta impacts on our Rakt dhatu (blood tissue) and gives blood related disease: blood infection, viral infection, Acidity, diziness, jaundice, burning sensation, burning sensation during urination, red spots on skin. To protect body from Pitta related disease we should change our food habits as per season. Avoid Salty, Sour and Spicy taste in food because it increase Pitta. Ghee is best to reduce the impact of Pitta. Add Sweet, Bitter and Astringent taste little more in food plate.
Grains :Rice (cooked in pot) should be consumed with little amount of ghee. Ghee decreases Pitta from body. Wheat and barley flour chapati should be consumed as it reduces Pitta. Apply ghee on chapati before eating. In this season we should consume new grains, because new grains are heavy in nature and help in reducing increased Pitta.
Pulses (Daal) : Chana, Toor, Moong, Masoor, Matar Dal are good to consume along with ghee tadka. Urad daal should be avoided.
Vegetables :Pumpkin (green and yellow both), Bittergourd (twice a week), Cauliflower, bottle gourd, parwal, Corn, Gilki (Sponge Gourd) and all seasonal vegetables. Leafy vegetables can be consumed in this season. Avoid brinjal in this season, because it is heat in nature and increases Pitta.
Fruits :Fresh grapes, Kamalgatta, Singhara, Raisins, Dates, Pista, Chiraunji, Amla sweet chutney, black Raisins (soak in water to reduce burning sensation), Coconut.
Spices :Cumin, Coriander, Turmeric can be consumed. Garam masala, Ginger,Sauf, Garlic, balck pepper should be avoided. Avoid use of mustard oil in this season and use ghee in more amount because it is sweet and cold in nature.
Drink :Coconut water, Khas khas juice, Sandal wood juice, milk, makkhan, ghee. If digestion is very strong then consume: Rabri, Paneer, Banana along with ghee and mishri. Curd & buttermilk should be avoided in this season since as per Ayurved, curd is heat in nature and increases Pitta. Water which is kept under moon light should be consumed. It helps in breathing related diseases.
Tea : Avoid drinking milk tea durng autumn season, if you want to drink it then use little amount of Cardamom in it. Tulsi, Turmeric & Clove tea is best to drink during autumn season.
.Massage your body with coconut oil daily before bath.
.For mind relaxation sit sometimes in moon light, specially on full moon night. Morning sunlight is also good for health.
.If you have loose motion issue due to Pitta then you can make a powder of (Amla , Dhaniya and Saunf(Anise)).Take a spoon of this mixture mix it with mishri and consume it after food.
.Harar churna 1 spoon with honey/jaggery/mishri gives strength to body and helps to remove infected blood.
.You can do virechan panchkarma in any ayurvedic center to remove infected blood from your body.
.Spend sometime in moonlight. It will calm our mind from inside.
Exercise :Avoid too much of exercise in this season.
