Winter season (Shishir ritu) starts from makar shankranti (15 January to 15 march). In this season we face coldness and skin dryness issue due to wind. In this season our food items should be according to pre-winter season but we must include sesame and jaggery specially in this season.

Grains :Rice & Wheat, Corn, Jowar chapati can be consumed in this season.

Pulses (Daal) :All kinds of daal should be consumed. Moong dal & urad dal is best to consume in this season.

Vegetables :Cauliflower, Cabbage, Bottlegourd, Kumbhara, Jhinga, Parwal, Spinach, Green Leafy vegetable, Red leafy vegetables,Potato, Arbi, Carrot, Ginger, Beatroot, Raw ginger, Onion, Garlic can be consumed.

Milk Products :Paneer, curd, Rabri, Kheer(payas), makkhan, milk with turmeric or sunth powder can be consumed. Curd shouldn't be consume alone, eat this along with moong/ honey/ Jaggery/ ginger powder/ salt.

Fruits :All dry fruits, all seasonal fruits, amla with jaggery should be consumed.

Spices :Garam masala and all other spices can be used.

Drink :All kinds of soup, Sugarcane juice & hot water should be taken after food.

Tea :Ginger & masala tea along with milk or without milk both can be consumed in this season. Ginger, cinnamon, tulsi, turmeric tea is also good.

.All fried items like pakoda can be consumed.

.Non veg can be consumed once in a week. Fish and eggs can be consumed twice in a week.

.Use sesame, it protects from Vata disease and makes our body smooth and strong. Jaggery and Sesame laddu is perfect tonic for winter season.

.Spend sometime in sunlight. It will warm our body from inside.

.Oil massage with mustard or sesame oil must be done in this season before bath. It reduces dryness and Kapha from body.

Exercise :In this season our body strength is very good. We must do exercise in winter season. To boost the immunity take brahmarasayan or chawanprash 1 spoon with milk or without milk in the morning.
