As per Ayurved, Vata and Pitta resides in our heart. There is no place of Kapha in our heart. Imbalance between them causes various heart problems like: low heart beat, fast heartbeat, cholesterol, heart swelling, weak heart. There are some food which helps in keeping our heart activated.

Heart Problems Ayurvedic Treatment :

1. Tulsi: It is light, dry and heat in nature, bitter and astringent in taste. It helps in keeping our heart active. It is good for people whose cholestrol level is high and heart is not functioning well. It removes swelling due to improper functioning of heart. It helps in cleaning our blood. Take 1 or 2 spoon of tulsi juice with honey in the morning.

2. Carrom Seeds (Ajwain): It is beneficial in heart diseases and in cholestrol problem as well. It is beneficial in case you are having chest pain due to gastric issues. Take Carrom Seed (Ajwain) in small amount and roast it on a pan for 2 mins along with cow-ghee. Once it is roasted then add a pinch of Sendha namak in it. Consume this ajwain as it will help in food digestion and will reduce gas problems. It is very heat in nature and sometimes it increases Pitta. To reduce the heatness we should add cow-ghee in it.

3. Fennel Seeds (Sauf): It is heat, sharp and light in nature. Due to it's heat nature it helps in reducing cholestrol. Consuming fennel seeds after food (1/2 tsp in a day) helps in reducing cholestrol.

4. Garlic: Heart Problem & Blockages : It is good for all kinds of heart diseases whether it is heart ejection fraction or high cholestrol. In all heart diseases garlic is the best medicine which is available at home. You should either consume this through your food or should consume it with milk. Take 1 cup of water, one cup of milk and 1 pc (single slice) of garlic. Boil it until it reduces to half. Eat that garlic and drink the milk. It should be consumed once in a day in empty stomach. Garlic milk gives nourishment to our heart.

5. Shatawari (Asparagus): High heartbeat (Weak heart): People who have fast heartbeat problem due to fear or if someone's heart is weak - in both the cases they should use Shatawari. It is very good tonic for heart. It is helpful in swelling problems due to heart diseases as well. It is heavy and smooth in nature, sweet and bitter in taste. Useful in both Vata and Pitta diseases. It works as a tonic. Upto 3-6gm Shatawari should be consumed daily. Consume it after food in the morning and in the evening.

6. Cinnamon: It is heat, light, dry and sharp in nature. Sweet, bitter and pungent in taste. Cinnamon helps in keeping our heart active.

7. Almonds: It gives nourishment to our heart. You can soak 4 to 5 almonds in water at night. Consume these soaked almonds next day in the morning. Remove it's cover before consuming as it's cover sometimes increases heat in body.

8. Arjun Chhal: It is light and dry in nature and astringent in taste. If your heart's muscle has become weak or ejection fraction is low then Arjun chhal is beneficial. Due to it's astringent taste it helps in shrinking heart's muscle and helps in correcting ejection fraction. Boil 1 spoon of Arjun chhal powder in a glass of milk and make kadha. Consume this way for 3 months. After 3 months give a break of one month. You can continue this process if Arjun chhal kadha is beneficial for you.

9. Shukra Dhatu: It is bitter in taste but helps in boosting Shukra dhatu. Powder should be used in 3-5 gm, liquid should be used upto 60 to 100 ml & Giloy satva upto 1 gm quantity should be used. Consume it with mishri/ghee/honey according to your body type.

10. Ashwagandha:It acts as a tonic for our heart. People who have weak heart or weak heart muscle or low ejection fraction - in all these cases Ashwagandha is very beneficial. It gives strength to our heart. Powder should be consumed upto 3gm in a day with milk/ghee/honey. If you are taking tablet then max 2 tablet should be consumed in a day. Ashwagandha juice should be consumed upto 20ml to 40 ml in a day. Consume it after food.

11. Fig (Anjeer): Fast Heartbeat : People whose heart beat is very fast they should include fig in their diet. It is smooth in nature and heavy to digest. It has 3 tastes among the 6 tastes of Ayurved - sweet, bitter and astringent. It acts as a tonic for our heart. Soak 5 figs at night in water and consume it next day in the morning during your breakfast. Note: People who face digestion or cough problem should first consume 1 pinch of harad or sunth (dry ginger) powder before consuming fig. Consuming harad or sunth powder will increase digestive fire.

12. Pomegranate: Pomegranate is light and smooth in nature and sweet, sour and astringent in taste. Sweet pomegrante works well on Vata, Pitta and Kapha all. Sour pomegranate works well on Kapah and Pitta. To keep your heart healthy eat half pomegranate just before your afternoon food. If we consume pomegranate just before consuming our meal then it helps in balancing both Vata and Pitta, which is required for healthy heart. Pomegranate before food helps in giving nourishment to our heart.
